ABOUT THE EVENT
NATO is today economically and militarily stronger than ever but faces a host of external threats and internal challenges. Tensions are on the rise in the Middle East after the killing of Qasem Soleimani in response to the regime’s regional aggression. Russia’s hybrid warfare continues to threaten NATO’s eastern flank. What’s more, at its recent summit, NATO recognized for the first time China as a challenge to the democratic world order. Internally, allies have been publicly quarreling on issues from burden sharing to lack of coordination.
Join us for a discussion on how to overcome these challenges with H.E. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Ambassador of the United States to NATO, H.E. Hans-Dieter Lucas, Ambassador of Germany to NATO, and MEP Petras Auštrevičius.
