Humans of Freedom

Many people think freedom is to live freely, to decide on things, to do as one wishes. Nobody wants to talk about the fact that freedom is literally being responsible and accountable.

My parents were fairly strict with me. Like any Asian parents. I was very rebellious. As in, I fought for my "freedom". The freedom to study the course of my choice. The freedom to wear the clothes of my choice. The freedom to go out with friends of my choice. Etc etc. And I remember very well that whenever I "won" the right to do something, I knew that I need to maintain the trust of my parents by not doing the wrong things (failing at exams, or mixing with bad people) so that I can continue enjoying my freedom. I learnt accountability and responsibility at a young age. 

The type of freedom where people learn how to take responsibility and accountability of their actions, instead of waiting for people to tell them what to do. 

As mentioned above, when I was a kid. Even since I was in primary school. I guess I was born not to listen to rules. LOLOLOL!!  

I hope people are given the freedom they need to do things that are positive for their communities and their countries. But I hope also that more people understand that freedom is a huge responsibility.
