Asia’s Contribution to the Global Open Market: FNF Session at Jeju Forum 2017

Jejuforum 2017

Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom Korea office (FNF) and the Economic Freedom Network Asia (EFN) have again successfully co-organized a session on “Asia’s Contribution to the Global Open Market” during the Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity 2017 from May 30 to June 02. The Jeju Forum is a platform where leaders from various fields gather together to exchange and discuss the ideas for the multilateral cooperation for common peace and prosperity in the region, and FNF has been participating as one of co-sponsors since 2013.

Against the growing protectionist trends in terms of global economic terms, pronounced by the Trump administration, the FNF session aimed to discuss if Asia would be able to defend global open market and to assess the role of EU and China in this regard, as well as to ultimately elaborate on their strategic policies for this goal.

The session moderated by Prof. John Delury (Yonsei University) was attended by three panelists; Prof. Razeen Sally (National University of Singapore), Mr. Wan Saiful Wan Jan (Chief Executive, Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs in Malaysia), and Prof. Kim Young-Han(Sungkyunkwan University).
