30th International Conference by CLA and FNF
In the end of September, the annual International Conference jointly organized by the Korea office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) and the Center for Local Autonomy (CLA), Hanyang University, took place.
This year's topic was "Future of Local Governments: Smart Cities". The big audience in President Hotel, Seoul, had the chance to learn more about this challenging topic and to discuss about it with experts on this field from various institutions.FNF Korea was especially delighted to welcome Mrs. Nam Young-Sook, Secretary General of World e-Governments Organization of Cities and Local Governments (WeGo) and Mr. Kim Young-jong, Mayor of Jongno District office of the city of Seoul.
The first speaker was Mr. Jimmy Schulz, former member of German parliament for the Free Democratic Party. Mr. Schulz, being an expert on the area of cyberpolitics and digitalization, offered interesting insights to the audience. Furthermore Professor Myoung-gu Kang of the University of Seoul and Professor Marc Wolfram from Yonsei University attended the conference, presenting the topics E-Governance and challenges for Smart City initiatives respectively.
The event was the 30th conference jointly organized by CLA and FNF Korea. That shows clearly how fruitful the mutual cooperation between both organizations has been in the past decades. For FNF Korea the CLA is the oldest and most relevant partner in Seoul, with the cooperation dating back to 1987. FNF Korea is gladly looking forward to the next thirty international conferences jointly organized by the two organizations.
