International Summer Camp for German language and Political Education

International Summer Camp for German language and Political Education

In late August, Korea Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) participated in a political education and German language project together with renowned South Korean universities and Goethe Institute Korea.

This year, the four-day joint annual event covered the topics profession, work as well as changes in the work environment due to Industry 4.0, digitalization and globalization. These topics were analysed through a comparative perspective with a regional focus mainly on Germany, South Korea and Japan. The event was kindly hosted by the renowned Korea University on its Sejong Campus.

The attendants were young German language university students mainly from South Korea and Japan. FNF Korea has been delighted by the warm atmosphere of mutual understanding and friendship between the young students from those countries.

The FNF participated for the second time in the summer school project. This time a presentation about the topics work and profession in Germany was held by Lars-André Richter. The presentation was divided into two parts with a short break in the middle. The first part focused on the culture-historical and political background of the work concept. The second part was focused on contemporary issues related to work and profession.

The summer school is a unique chance for all participants to broaden their linguistic and political horizon while establishing friendships across borders. FNF Korea also gladly took part in the friendly exchange of ideas and opinions during the informal evening activities. Therefore it is looking forward to further cooperation with the universities in order to organize another event of this kind next year.
