On November, 29 2018 FNF Korea and the Korea Local Information & Development Institute held an Int´l Workshop on Smart Cities and Living Labs with the goal to present a less technology-centric perspective of the 4th Industrial Revolution and Smart Cities.

After a warm opening speech and welcoming remarks by both, Daebum Ji, President of the KLID and Christian Taaks, Head of FNF Korea, Fernando Vilariño, Chairman of the European Network of Living Labs presented his keynote speech to give participants a short introduction into the topic. Just like Julian Petrin from NextHamburg, whose presentation followed right after, he emphasized on the importance of citizen participation alongside the technological innovation. Before the floor and discussants got a chance to ask question to the speakers, Marc Wolfram from Sungkyunkwan Universtity also gave participants a chance to know more about Living Labs in Germany and Korea.

The second session was concentrated its focus on Korean examples. Mrs. Jong-Sung Hwang from the National Information Society Agency gave a more general overview on how and what use of Living Labs is beneficial for Smart Cities, while Young Tae Cho, from the LH Institute Smart City Research Center gave a more concrete inside look on Living Labs in Korea. After many questions from the floor and discussants, the event was successfully wrapped up.

FNF Korea is looking forward to more such successful cooperation the next year.
