Unseen Consequences of War in Ukraine for South Asia: Energy Security Challenges, Kerala, India
Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) South Asia in collaboration with the Centre for Public Policy Research (CPPR), hosted a half-day event to address the role of South Asian countries in securing energy and interplay with European countries. Dr. Carsten Klein, the regional director of FNF South Asia, and Dr. Dhanuraj opened the conference. The event addressed: A. Unseen consequences on South Asian economies B. Recent initiatives of South Asian countries to secure energy supply C. Prospects for cooperation and partnerships with Europe in the next 5 years.

Dr. Fernando is a renewable energy activist, entrepreneur, and businessman. His areas of interest include Renewable Energy, Property, and Apparel Accessories. He has been actively lobbying to protect and improve the renewable energy sector in Sri Lanka and he is a strong promoter of Renewable Energy Exportation to improve the country’s economy. He is the co-founder and Managing Director/CEO of Regen Renewables (Pvt) Ltd (one of the largest Solar PV Companies in the country), SRT Energy (Pvt) Ltd (a RE Development Company), Regent Living (Pvt) Ltd (a custom-building housing company), and Titan Packaging (Pvt) Ltd, in Sri Lanka.

He started his career as a researcher in the civil service of Bhutan before becoming the editor of Bhutan Observer newspaper, a writing and editing consultant, and the founding executive director of Journalists' Association of Bhutan. Needrup is a student of English literature and journalism.

© FNF South AsiaDr. Abdul Hannan Waheed has established himself as a current affairs analyst in the Maldives and appears on a weekly live TV program called World on the local channel VTV, providing analysis of pressing world affairs issues. Hannan has been involved in journalism as a freelancer since around 2000, writing in magazines and newspapers; he has also been on the editorial boards of several local magazines (such as Adduvas weekly and Galan weekly). Currently, he is an editor and writer for the Maldives Business Standard, which is the only online business newspaper in the Maldives, published in both Dhivehi and English.
