Shota Narsia, a researcher and doctoral candidate in political science, was detained during a peaceful protest on November 30, 2024. His arrest and subsequent trial have raised concerns about the treatment of demonstrators and the protection of individual rights. According to reports, he was subjected to physical and verbal mistreatment during his detention, and later faced charges based on the testimony of officers who were not directly involved in his arrest. Despite the absence of clear evidence against him, he was found guilty and fined. While an investigation into his treatment was launched, no officers have been held accountable so far. His case highlights important questions about due process, accountability, and the rights of individuals in protest situations.
