Dr. Medha Bisht

Dr Medha Bisht is an Associate Professor at the Department of International Relations, South Asian University, New Delhi; and a former Associate Fellow, at Manohar Parrikar IDSA. She has extensively written about Hydro diplomacy in South Asia with stakeholder engagement. She has also given her keynote speech at many workshops and conferences in South Asia. Her area of interest are International Negotiations and Civil Society Participation, Multi-Stakeholder Processes, Bhutan, Transnational Water Issues and Dams in South Asia. She is a member of regional and national civil society forums on climate change and water and has done consultancies with UNIFEM, UNDP, IUCN, OXFAM, DFID/Asia Foundation, Mine Action Canada, ICIMOD with a focus on civil society, water diplomacy, climate change women and governance. She also co-led a Winter School on Inclusive Water Governance and water diplomacy at the national, regional and international levels.

Study Tour visit Report on Renewable Energy Transition
The weeklong interactive study tour organized by the World Order and Globalization Hub in May 2023 with the energy stakeholders in Washington DC and Portland, Oregon, was a rather insightful visit. This interaction that was organized with the larger theme of 'Renewable Energy Transition' was a learning process on many fronts.

Water Diplomacy in South Asia
The policy brief draws attention to certain generic and a few specific patterns related to discourses around water diplomacy. First, an attempt has been undertaken to examine the nature of the mainstream water diplomacy discourse, which has become prominent in recent years with respect to India and her neighbours. In this regard, issues which were often marginalised in existing water diplomacy discourses have been brought to the forefront. Second, a policy framework has been propounded to reconcile these tensions by engaging with the meta and micro narratives of water diplomacy.
