BALKAN DIALOGUE
Prespa Forum Dialogue
The Prespa Forum Dialogue (PFD) is a platform created by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia to enable countries, leaders, organizations, and citizens to build long-term relationships and strengthen partnerships. It comes after the signing of the "Prespes Agreement" with Greece and the Agreement on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation with Bulgaria.
It is an ambitious international dialogue project that aims to inspire and promote good-neighborly relations and cooperation. As the organizers say, it is envisioned as a place for exchanging views and ideas on possible solutions to outstanding bilateral issues, thus assisting governments, institutions and the civil society, including the youth, in the consistent implementation of the spirit and letter of the signed bilateral and regional agreements.
On 1 and 2 of July, prominent speakers and participants, including Prime Ministers, high representatives and experts will take part in a series of panes and debates. This year's topic is:
Western Balkans: The Missing Puzzle for Completing Europe
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in cooperation with the the Department of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies of the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki), and the European Policy Institute (Skopje) have established the "Prespes Agreement Observatory" to wage research on the bilateral relation between Greece and North Macedonia in the aftermath of the Prespes Agreement. We are glad that we have received the kind invitation from the organizers and we will be present at this conference. This is a recognition of our team's work.
The Obdervatory will be represented by the Project Manager for Greece, Dr Athanasios Grammenos, who will also be a panelist at the Local Self Government Round-Table: "The perspectives of the cross-border cooperation in light of the EU for Prespa project" on 1 July 2021.
