Seminar Topics at the IAF: Supporting Global Liberal Work
As the International Academy for Leadership (IAF) marks its 30th anniversary, we remain committed to addressing the most pressing challenges facing liberal societies across the globe. At the heart of this mission lies a carefully curated seminar program—designed not only to spark dialogue and innovation but to directly support the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom’s (FNF) international project work.
A Wide Range of Relevant and Impactful Topics
Our seminar topics span a wide spectrum of political, economic, and social themes. These include democracy and good governance, civil and human rights, political participation, rule of law, economic freedom, market economy, digital transformation, communication strategies, and conflict resolution. Equally important are skills-based trainings that focus on leadership, facilitation, coalition building, and strategic planning—equipping participants with the tools they need to drive change in their own regions.
Chosen by the People Who Know the Regions Best
What makes our seminar selection unique is its direct connection to FNF’s work around the world. Each year, the Foundation’s global project offices come together in a collaborative voting process to identify the seminar topics most relevant to their work and that of their local partners. This ensures that the IAF’s offerings remain grounded in real-world needs and challenges—be it in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, or Eastern Europe.
Targeted Participation through Regional Nomination
Participants in our seminars are nominated by FNF’s project offices. These nominees are often emerging or established leaders from partner organizations—individuals who are actively engaged in promoting liberal values in their communities. The seminars offer them a space to reflect, exchange ideas with peers from around the world, and develop innovative, locally adaptable liberal solutions.
