Countdown to Christmas
8 - Education
- Freedom is the basic requirement for a good society. This works best when it is combined with an upbringing for free and self-responsible people.
- Many liberal thinkers have written on education. The most important of them was Wilhelm von Humboldt, who wrote in 1792 that the goal of human education was "the highest and most harmonious development of his powers to a complete and consistent whole".
- In other words: Make the most of yourself and stay open-minded!
Gift Idea
It's never too early to start with liberal education. We recommend a baby bodysuit with a portrait of Wilhelm von Humboldt. His brother Alexander is also pictured. He was a world traveler and natural scientist (hence, well-educated, too). For example, he discovered the Humboldt penguin named after him, which we also see here. This is a fully educational and outstandingly liberal body suit!
