Prof. Morlok's Visit to the Office of FNF Indonesia and Malaysia

Today, 31 October 2017, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Morlok, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) visited FNF Indonesia and Malaysia Office in Jakarta, this visit is aimed to observe FNF and its partners’ activities in Indonesia.

His visit to our Office started with his participation in our Biweekly Team Meeting that discussed the progress of our programs in Indonesia and Malaysia. He also reaffirmed the importance of the Foundation’s Guidelines as well as long term strategy. Aside from that, Prof. Morlok also shared the result of Germany’s previous election, in which the Free Democratic Party (FDP), a party that FNF works closely with has gained a major win with 10.7% vote and managed to return back to the German’s Parliament.

At the end of the discussion, Prof. Morlok shared his experience when he firstly joined politics and FNF.

Prof. Morlok studied political science and economics in Berlin and Karlsruhe and received his doctorate in 1974. One of his first employments was at the Institute for Economic Policy and Research at Karlsruhe University. He was then the assistant to the management at a medium-sized brewery. At the same time Prof. Morlok was Member of the State parliament of Baden-Württemberg until 1988. And headed the FDP/DVP state parliament faction from 1976 to 1984. Among other positions he worked for the State of Baden-Württemberg at the State Development Corporation (Landesentwicklungsgesellschaft) and the Foundation for Foreign Trade. Before his work as an independent economic and political advisor in 2001 he was Vora chief manager for Daimler-Benz and board member of the Baden-Airpark AG. In 2005 Prof. Morlok received the professorship for economics and international economic relations at the Karlshochschule International University Karlsruhe. Between 1978 and 1985 he was Chairman of the FDP Baden-Württemberg, from 1982 to 1985 FDP Deputy Federal Chairman.
