Inspiring Change, One Slice at a Time: Pizza Talk’s Journey
A Platform for Youth Dialogue
In 2024, Pizza Talk brought together Jordan's youth in an extraordinary series of ten sessions designed to spark dialogue and inspire change. Co-organized with the Free Youth Foundation, these gatherings served as more than just discussions—they became a dynamic platform for young Jordanians to voice their ideas and engage with topics closely aligned with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation's mission for freedom.
Reimagining the Tradition of Dialogue
Drawing inspiration from the rich tradition of public discussions, Pizza Talk redefined the concept by amplifying the voices of youth who are often left out of decision-making processes. Over shared slices of pizza, participants explored issues such as freedom, entrepreneurship, sustainability, political participation, and innovation.
One participant shared, “Pizza Talk allowed us to discuss issues that matter to us—issues we rarely get a chance to talk about in such an open and encouraging environment."
Turning Conversations into Solutions
Each session was structured to encourage meaningful dialogue, guided by facilitators who ensured that discussions remained focused yet engaging. These sessions were not just about identifying challenges; they were about generating solutions.
For instance, during a session on political participation, participants discussed ways to increase youth engagement in the political process, leading to initiatives focused on raising awareness and fostering civic involvement.
A Roadmap for Change
The outcomes of Pizza Talk were both meaningful and impactful. It created a platform where young people felt heard and valued, empowering them to take an active role in shaping the future of Jordan. As the sessions came to a close, a collective vision was formed—highlighting the hopes, priorities, and ideas of the youth. This vision is now being used to push for policy changes that support the aspirations of young people and resonate with FNF’s commitment to freedom and progress.
A Catalyst for Change
Pizza Talk 2024 showcased how meaningful conversation can spark real change. It was a space where ideas came to life, collaboration flourished, and young people realised their potential to shape society. As one participant expressed, “Pizza Talk went beyond pizza and conversation—it was about translating ideas into tangible change, fostering impact, and envisioning a future full of possibilities.”
Looking Ahead: More Dialogue, More Change
Now that we’ve entered a new year filled with opportunities for growth and progress, we remain committed to continuing Pizza Talk.
This year, we aim to make the sessions even more engaging, inclusive, and impactful, creating more avenues for thoughtful conversations and shared actions that pave the way for a brighter tomorrow!
