On Saturday, 9 September, ARK (Akademi Keadilan) conducted a workshop entitled "SDG - Democracy and Good Governance". SDG is an abbreviation for SIM Democracy Game, a game which enables the players to take on various roles and become active citizens who participate in the country's democratic processes.

The workshop was conducted at Summit Singature Hotel in Batu Pahat, Johor. It was attended by the People's Justice Party (Parti Keadilan Rakyat) members from different parts of the Johor state, including Batu Pahat and Johor Bahru. Before playing the SDG, we conducted a session to see how well the participants understood democracy. They were required to provide examples of democratic practices from other countries. We then discussed and analyzed their views as a group and the trainer explained democratic practices, values and systems in more detail.

We played the game after lunchtime. After the game, we conducted a debrief on lessons learnt and key take-aways from playing the game. This included, lessons related to democracy, good governance and leadership. We concluded by presenting some of the participants with SDG boxes for them to continue playing with their respective teams and local community.
