The discussion of the symposium focuses on the current situation with President Trump instilling more isolationist and protectionist policies, the US is fast losing their status as the leader of the free world and at the same time China is rising and ready to take the center stage. This raises the question on how other countries should respond. Inevitably, the changes happening in the US and China’s role in the promotion of globalization are a result of domestic political and economic development.
