Global Media Forum - Identity and Diversity

Invited by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), Premesh Chandran, CEO, and Co-Founder of Malaysiakini, spoke at the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum in Bonn / Germany this week. The theme of GMF 2017 was “Identity and Diversity”. Along with journalists from Poland, Turkey, and South Africa, Prem participated in a panel discussion on “The Role of (Social) Media in Highly Polarized Societies”. Ronald Meinardus, FNF´s Regional Director South Asia, moderated the session.

The annual Global Media Forum is global platform that brings together 2,000 representatives from the fields of journalism, digital media, politics, culture, business, development, academia and civil society. FNF hosts a session every year. FNF Malaysia and Malaysiakini have been cooperating since Prem and his colleague Steven Gan founded Malaysiakini in 1999.
