IAF Replication Seminar in Penang

This event was conducted in Penang, 10 October, 2015. The replication seminar is based on the modules and contents of seminar on “Politics and Civil Society: The Role of Political Parties and NGO”, which M. Saedi have attended at IAF Gummersbach, Germany in 2009.

Participants were given the over view on politics, civil society and political party. This session was very crucial as to provide the right understanding on the meaning, similarity and differential of the latter.

Participants were introduced to different type of political ideologies. They were then shown how politics plays an important role in their daily life and how politics affect them. They were also given some real case study on policy matters and to state their opinions. At the end of the session, there were made to understand that in order to live a better life, each of them need to participate in politics, directly or indirectly. They must participate in the process of policy making and the execution of policy through their involvement either in political party or civil society.

Over lunch was the Luncheon Talk - Young Professional with Nurul Izzah Anwar. Halfway through lunch, participants were shown a video montage on the chronology of YB Nurul Izzah Anwar early involvement in Reformasi movement and eventually lead to her being elected as a Member of Parliament.

The last session was the world café on the roles of youth in politics and civil society. Participants were divided into 4 groups with different area of focus ie. education, politics, economy and social. They were requested to list down their top 5 concerns on each area of focus.
