© FNF MalaysiaOn February 26, 2025, Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) Malaysia had the pleasure of meeting one of our partners, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR/KEADILAN) represented by H.E. Fuziah Salleh. In addition to her official position in the government as Deputy Minister for Domestic Trade & Cost of Living, H.E. Fuziah also serves as the Secretary-General of Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
During the meeting, H.E. Fuziah expressed the party’s steadfast commitment to advancing political reforms aimed at fostering a more efficient and accountable system in the interest of the people. Her Excellency principally mentioned the party’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the logistical hassle often associated with expansive elections, such as its very own one-person-one-vote (OPOV) direct election system. To address the issue, PKR has, in recent years, introduced both online and hybrid voting systems to its members, with the hopes that it would minimise the growing practice of factionalism in leadership contests. Moreover, the new systems will also require every contesting member to reach out beyond their existing “allies”, which hopefully will encourage more dialogues between the previously factionalised constituents.
