The Head Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom held an event “Shrinking Spaces: The worldwide end of civil society?” on 2 July 2015 in Berlin. The speakers were among others, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Member of Parliament, Vice President of the “People’s Justice Party”, Malaysia, and daughter of Anwar Ibrahim, leader of the opposition party in Malaysia, who stayed from 2-3 July 2015. Mr. Olaf Kellerhoff, Head of Department Asia and Human Rights, was moderating the discussion.

Other speakers attended were Tatyana Lokshina, Director of Human Rights Watch Russia, Ahmed Samih Farag, Egypt, Director of Andalus Institute for Tolerance and Anti-Violence Studies, and Dr. Andrea Berg, Acting Director of Programs, Amnesty International Germany.

On the sidelines of the “Shrinking Spaces” event, FNF also arranged her meeting with the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, the Foreign Office of Germany, the Human Rights Commissioner, and last but not least, a visit to FNF Head Office in Potsdam.
