Sim Democracy Game – Coaching by Akademi Keadilan

On Sunday, 22 October 2017, ARK (Akademi Keadilan) conducted a workshop about  Sim Democracy Game – Coaching in conjunction with ARK Forum in Swiss Garden Hotel Kuala Lumpur. . Sim Democracy is a board game developed by FNF Thailand as an interactive tool for young adults and first-time voters to gain a better understanding of the basic functioning of democratic community and of public policy. 

The event was attended by around 20 ARK Members along with YB Idris Bin Ahmad as well as YB Syed Ibrahim, the introduction on the board game and detailed instructions on its rules were given by the ARK Members who have received training by FNF.The participants were very active during the event, they took different roles in the government system that was divided into several Ministries and Government Agencies. They played the game under simulation of several political scenarios ranging from national elections, budget allocation to the handling of crisis situations.

The last session was a review of the game, participants learnt that check and balances of every element of the state play important role in democracy and that transparency as well as strategic planning in allocating budget will result to effective governance.  At the end of session, participants shared their experience about the game, everyone had fun.
