Before playing the game, ARK conducted a session about Coaching Skills. It covered key aspects of Coaching, including being a good listener, being a good observer, giving feedback, encouraging teamwork, encouraging thinking based on good values and principles, and facilitating the participants decision-making process; all of which were explained in the context of being a Playing Coach in the SIM Democracy Game. Specific examples related to the Game were also provided to enable the participants to imagine and relate better to the explanations.

We then played the SIM Democracy Game. After we completed, YB Ong Chin Wen addressed the participants. He said that whilst experiencing the democratic process through the game is educational, he advised that at some point, we all need to be involved in the democratic process for real. He also shared some of his experiences of upholding democratic values and helping his community.

Our last session was a Review of the Playing Coach's Manual. Together with FNF, ARK had developed this manual in Malay (Bahasa Melayu) to enable more Malaysians to understand it better. During the review, the Facilitator explained that the manual covered; (i) set-up and flow of the game, (2) tips and suggestions on matters which might arise, (3) explanations for various democracy-related lessons in the game, and (4) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). Our event concluded with the participants having a clearer understanding of the role of a Playing Coach for the SIM Democracy Game.
