We started the day with some ice-breaking games. These games were to make the participants feel comfortable with each other and at the same time, learn some lessons related to communication and leadership. We then began to discuss democracy; its system, values and practices. We asked each participant to provide an example of a positive, democratic practice from any country in the world. We then discussed and analyzed their views as a group, and emphasized the importance of some of the examples they provided, including free media, freedom of speech and separation of powers. Some of the example countries selected by the participants included; United States of America (because of the election process), United Kingdom (because laws are passed through a majority vote in Parliament) and India (because of freedom of religion).

After lunch, we played the SIM Democracy Game. This was followed by a debrief on lessons learnt and key take-aways from playing the game. The participants shared their thoughts and said they had learnt many new lessons related to democracy, good governance and leadership.
