Zine Writing Workshop

Sisters in Islam has organized a 2-day Zine Writing Workshop on 25th August - 26th August 2018 in the Element Hotel, Kuala Lumpur,  as an effort to encourage youth participation in expressing their thoughts and to develop storytelling method as one of the means to educate and disseminate gender equality experiences, values and rights.

The workshop consisted of 7 sessions which not only focus on the knowledge building of both women's rights and gender equality issues, but also on the expression and reflection of articulation, and also writing and zine production skills. The workshop has been attended by participants from a diverse background, mostly youth below the age of 35.  Nevertheless, they have given their utmost cooperation which has contributed to the success of the workshop.

The zine production session was the highlight of the workshop as all participants learned how to produce and publish a zine tailored to the issues that they are interested in. The workshop ended with a presentation from each group on their zines.
