CESE Regional Meeting Held in Sibiu

The first CESE regional meeting in 2014 was held from 24 to 28 March in the city of Sibiu, Romania. The biannual event brought together FNF’s project directors from Central, East and Southeast Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, headed by regional director Dr René Klaff, and their colleagues from Germany in order to discuss the Foundation's work in the region.

In the presence of Dr Wolfgang Gerhardt, President of the Board of Directors of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, and Ulrich Niemann, Head of Division International Politics, the project directors not only presented the latest developments and summed up past activities in their respective countries, but also had the opportunity to discuss future projects. 

A special guest to the event was Dr Rainer Adam, currently regional director Southeast and East Asia, who is taking over as regional director of the CESE region from Dr René Klaff, starting in September this year.

In conjunction with the regional meeting, Dr Gerhardt, Dr Klaff and Mr Niemann also took part in a panel discussion on the topic of Europe’s future together with the mayor of Sibiu Klaus Johannis and Ramona Manescu, MEP, both of the Romanian National Liberal Party.
