Opinion Poll on Freedom Perception of Russian Population

The Moscow Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation conducted a freedom perception opinion poll in in Russia in the period of July-August 2016. 

It covered several themes, among which freedom and security, economy, gender, politics, religion, freedom of speech, fears and expectations, etc. The opinion poll revealed a lot of contradictions. For example, while 56.9% of the respondents answer that it is important for them personally that there should be democracy in Russia, 34.1% didn't know or refused to answer the question "What is democracy", and 30.8% didn't know or refused to answer if there was democracy in Russia at all. More than 2/3 of the respondents think that the priority task of the state for the upcoming 5 years is economic development. A valuable insight is that 64.9% answered their life depends rather on themselves, not on the state or other people.
