Ukraine: Good Practices in Public Procurement
Government officials, defence and law enforcement representatives and civil society experts have started a dialogue to optimise the public procurement system for the army. This happened at the seminar "Good Practices in Public Procurement for Defence and Law Enforcement Agencies", organised by the Centre for Political Studies and Analysis with the participation of the Ministry of Economic Development, the State Financial Inspection, and with the financial support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom in Ukraine.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Interior, the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, the External Intelligence Service, and other defence and law enforcement agencies. They listened to the recommendations of representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, the State Financial Inspection and experts from the Centre for Political Studies and Analysis.
The gathering was the first extended meeting of defence and law enforcement representatives and government officials, dedicated to public procurement issues. Representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development and the State Financial Inspection explained to the defence and law enforcement representatives the Ukrainian legislation’s controversies and provided structured information about procurement for the army and all other state services. In turn, the defence and law enforcement representatives could refine their own activity schemes.
Participants actively engaged in a discussion and forged ties with each other. Together with the public procurement experts the defence and law enforcement representatives could find ways of solution to most of the existing problems in the field of public procurement.
Participants and organisers said they hoped that these workshops will continue to be held for representatives of government agencies.
