As a proud partner of the RenewPac Summit, held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from 23–25 February 2025, under the theme "Partners in Progress: Enhancing EU-Africa Competitiveness for Sustainable Growth," the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) played a key role in shaping discussions on good governance, policy development, youth and women’s political participation, and innovation.

Building climate resilience

A pivotal panel discussion on building climate resilience examined the balance between sustainability and economic development, showcasing best practices and the necessary trade-offs for both Africa and Europe. The session underscored the importance of cooperation in fostering sustainable partnerships and economic growth while ensuring climate action remains a top priority.

Driving innovation and collaboration

On the theme of innovation and shared ambitions, FNF facilitated a session titled "The Next Big Idea," aimed at generating transformative ideas to strengthen EU-Africa collaboration. The discussion highlighted the role of education, political exchange programmes, and knowledge sharing as key drivers of progress.

In partnership with Women and Youth in Democratic Engagement (WYDE), FNF also hosted a workshop on "Empowering Women in Politics." This session addressed the challenges young women face in political spaces, providing them with tools to navigate the landscape, advocate for liberal principles, and secure their place in decision-making processes.

Across all sessions, the emphasis was on translating commitments into action—recognising that both Africa and Europe must take concrete steps to build strategic partnerships with real impact. While challenges are shared, solutions can be mutual. Strengthening collaborations, fostering mutually beneficial programmes, and ensuring measurable outcomes are essential in advancing this cooperation.

A shared vision for the future

At the summit’s conclusion, partners reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the EU-Africa relationship remains a partnership of equals—rooted in accountability, mutual respect, and a shared vision for the future. Looking ahead, FNF remains dedicated to driving tangible, lasting impact that benefits millions across both continents.
