Jeju Forum: Assessment of the Transpacific Partnership from Political Economic Perspective

Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) and the Economic Freedom Network in Asia (EFN) co-hosted a panel discussion titled “ The Transpacific Partnership (TPP) : an Assessment of Its Political Economy on the occasion of this year’s Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity.  The Jeju Forum 2016 took place from May 25 to 27 at the International Convention Center in Seogwipo on the beautiful Island of Jeju.

The panel moderated by Dr. John Delury, Professor at Yonsei University, Seoulconsisted of highly-experienced experts: Kwon Tae-shin, President of Seoul based Korea Economic Research Institute, Dr. Iida Keisuke, Professor at University of Tokyo, Graduate School for Law and Politics, and Dr. Sethaput Suthiwart-Narueput, Executive Chairman of the Thailand Future Foundation, Bangkok. Prior to the discussion, Rolf Mafael, German Ambassador to South Korea, gave a congratulatory speech.

FNF and the EFN have a long tradition of hosting a session at the Jeju Forum. The Forum itself was attended by several thousands of participants not only from the East Asian region, but from all over the world. The Forum 2016 was highlighted with presence of Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations as a keynote speaker at the opening session.
