Political cultural weekend on Korea

Political cultural weekend on Korea

From April 1 to 3, the Theodor Heuss Academy, Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom’s educational centre in Gummersbach, Germany, held its annual Political cultural weekend. This year’s country focus lay on Korea. During the weekend different aspects of contemporary Korea were covered: the political situation at the peninsula, the Korean Wave, also known as Hallyu, and South Koreas economic structures.

A highlight of the weekend was the screening of Hana Dul Sed", a documentary by Austrian director Brigitte Weich. It follows four members of the North Korean women's soccer team on their journey as athletics and their personal life as North Korean citizens. Lars-André Richter, head of the Foundation’s office in Seoul, presented on its activities in Pyongyang.
