Vitalize Region-Oriented Residents’ Association

FNF Korea office and the Center for Local Autonomy (CLA), Hanyang University, held their 44th Local Autonomy Policy Seminar with the theme ‘The way to Vitalize Region-Oriented Residents’ Association’, cooperating with Goyang City. 

About 150 people including the leaders and the members of Residents’ Association filled all the seats before starting the seminar and made the discussion session animated throwing lots of questions and stating their opinions.

At the beginning of the seminar, Choi Sung, the mayor of Goyang gave a kind keynote speech on the Goyang Residents’ Association’s case. The opening speech of CLA director Han Sang-Woo and the welcome remarks of Dr. Lars-André Richter of FNF followed next.

Pointing out the problems of Residents’ Association, the speakers presented three models for better civil self-governance and had a heated discussion on whether the firm system, regulation and reward are needed for better Residents’ Association.  The CLA has been organizing joint research projects with FNF for the settlement and development of local autonomy in Korea since 1987.
