Building Capacity for Women Leaders in Technology Application in Yen Bai

From August 22nd to 23rd, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) Vietnam, in collaboration with the Yen Bai Provincial Women's Union, organized a two-day training session on "Enhancing the Capacity for Women Leaders in Yen Bai Province in Technology Application" for 90 participants, who were leaders of provincial, city, district, and town-level Women's Unions in Yen Bai Province.

Women's Union leaders are key figures within the local women's community, responsible for mobilizing and guiding local women to engage in activities that generate income and sustainable livelihoods for the people. They also play a pivotal role in encouraging women to contribute to the sustainable development of their localities in various aspects of life. Recognizing the significant role of this leadership team, FNF Vietnam collaborated with the Yen Bai Provincial Women's Union to organize this capacity-building activity, aimed at improving the work management skills of women leaders across the province. In particular, in today’s digital age, updating knowledge and skills related to information technology application will enable their management and communication tasks to be more efficient, creative, and convenient.

During the training, participants were equipped with knowledge on cybersecurity and the prevention of high-tech crimes. Additionally, they practiced using online tools and artificial intelligence (AI) to support their work. Some of the online tools introduced to the participants included QR code generation, Google Sheets, and Google Forms. AI tools such as Suno, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Lumen5 were also introduced, helping the trainees create content, songs, or simple videos.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Le Thi Thu Trang, Project Manager of FNF Vietnam, shared that FNF Vietnam has collaborated with the Yen Bai Provincial Women’s Union on several initiatives aimed at improving the skills of local women. In today’s era, skills in information technology and working with artificial intelligence (AI) have become increasingly essential. Ms. Trang expressed her hope that the training session would provide participants with valuable knowledge and skills in IT, helping them use the internet safely and effectively apply what they have learned to both their work and daily lives.

Ms. Nong Thi Lua, one of the most active participants in the training session, shared that the course helped women better recognize various types of internet fraud. Additionally, with her frequent task of mobilizing women to participate in Union activities, the application of Google tools and AI, such as ChatGPT, made her work much simpler and far more enjoyable.
