Valeria joined FNF in September 2022 as Project Manager for the Mediterranean Dialogue. Holding a BA in International Relations from King's College London, her specialization includes human rights, diplomacy, and conflict studies. Valeria's primary interests lie in the intersection of climate change and human rights, migration and forced displacement, and international human rights law. At FNF's Madrid office, she coordinates projects across the Mediterranean and West Africa on climate change as a cause for flight, women's rights, as well as crisis and conflict-driven displacement, among others. Being Italian and Spanish, she fluently speaks three languages—Spanish, Italian, and English—with an intermediate level of French.

Held on October on October 18 and 19 in the citiy Alicante, the conference provided a platform for professionals to connect, share insights, and explore opportunities for growth and collaboration in the context of women’s rights and empowerment.

Irregular Maritime Migration from Lebanon since 2019: Conflict, crisis and migration
Lebanon’s state of crisis has rummaged the country since it began in 2019. The World Bank classified Lebanon's economic meltdown as one of the most severe global crisis episodes since the mid-nineteenth century. Additionally, the Fragile Country Index has now placed it as one of the most fragile states in the world, in the category “Alert”, just after Niger and before countries such as Venezuela and Palestine. The explosion in Beirut's port in 2020, which devastated several districts of the city, further exacerbated an already dire situation.

Climate Change as a Cause for Migration
On May 4th, at the headquarters of the Union of the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona, we presented with the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed)our latest joint report titled Climate Change and Migration: Understanding Factors, Developing Opportunities in the Sahel Zone, West Africa, and the Maghreb. This comprehensive report, which is now available for download on our website, represents months of work, including data collection in Senegal and Morocco, interviews with local communities, and statistical analysis.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Barcelona Tech Hub
Technology, innovation and entrepreneurship gathered in Barcelona from February 27 to March 2 at the global tech event of the year, the Mobile World Congress (MWC), to showcase and share the latest projects, products and ideas developed over the past year. In the MWC exhibition halls, more than 100,000 visitors were able to explore everything from go-karts to virtual reality heli- drone experiences. It is in this context that FNF Madrid teamed up with FNF Jerusalem to host a delegation from Hasoub in Barcelona.
