FNF and Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences made a milestone in cooperation
On the afternoon of June 17, 2021, at the headquarter of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) at No. 1 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh, Hanoi, the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Institute for European Studies (under VASS) and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) for the period 2021-2024 was solemnly held.
Attending the signing ceremony were Herr Weert Börner, Representative of German Embassy in Hanoi, Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh, VASS Vice President and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang (Director of the Institute for European Studies) with the presence of a number of other senior experts from the Institute for European Studies.
Through the exchange before the signing, the two sides together clarified many related contents, especially highlighting the strengths and interests that the two sides will focus on in the period of 2021 -2024. Regarding related scientific activities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Chien Thang said: “Currently, the Institute for European Studies has done and is continuing to implement the project “Improving the effectiveness of implementing social responsibility in enterprises and agricultural cooperatives in Son La province in the context of implementation of the EVFTA".”
The goal of the project is to evaluate and analyze the current situation of implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in enterprises and agricultural cooperatives in Son La province. The project has completed the analysis framework of social responsibility for enterprises/cooperatives, surveyed the implementation of social responsibility in 04 districts: Quynh Nhai, Thuan Chau, Mai Son, and Moc Chau, and held conferences and sent out publications…
As the country director of FNF Vietnam, Prof.Dr. Andreas Stoffers was pleased to say that FNF attaches special importance to the relationship related to scientific development and education with Vietnam. The results achieved by the Institute for European Studies have shown that Vietnam's initiative in academic issues is increasingly valued and respected. This is a very good premise, not only in helping the Institute for European Studies to assert its stand with international friends, but also in facilitating the cooperative relationship being developed between FNF and the Institute for European Studies in particular and the Academy in general to grow to new heights.
Accordingly, this Memorandum of Understanding will be implemented in the period 2021-2024, focusing on 6 main activities, including:
(i) Promoting the implementation of Social Responsibility for agricultural enterprises/cooperatives in the provinces Son La, Binh Duong, Dak Lak;
(ii) Researching and building a short supply chain model of agricultural products in Phu Yen, Quang Nam;
(iii) Promoting the exportation of key agricultural products to the EU market under the implementation of the EVFTA in Dak Lak, Son La, and Phu Yen;
(iv) Organizing seminars in localities;
(v) Developing assessment toolkits, roundtable discussions, providing scientific recommendations and policy proposals to the provinces;
(vi) Coordinating in the publication of papers, results, and projects.
The practical activities of the Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to strengthening the relationship between the Institute for European Studies and FNF in particular, and between FNF and VASS in general, while also play a part in affirming the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Germany.
