Reshape Europe
Conference RESHAPE EUROPE
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has marked a critical turning point in world politics. In addition to the unfathomable human suffering on the ground, the war in Ukraine has also had a profound impact on people's lives in the rest of Europe and around the world: record high commodity prices, disrupted supply chains, and looming energy shortages. Beyond the economic implications, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is challenging our international liberal order as a whole. The response of the EU and its member states to the Russian war of aggression is being closely watched by authoritarian regimes in other parts of the world as well. How liberal democracies stand up to authoritarianism is the central geopolitical question of the 21st century. Whether Europe succeeds in raising up to the challenge is therefore of global significance.
Together with international experts and European liberals, we want to discuss what the Russian war against Ukraine means for the EU and its role in the world. How can the EU and its liberal-democratic model become more resilient against authoritarian threats? Which reforms regarding the EU’s internal and external policy will have to be implemented for this purpose? What expectations do other parts of the world place in the EU?
We cordially invite you to our conference.
Let's #ReshapeEurope together!
