Greeks of Ukraine and the ongoing conflict
The Greek minority of Ukraine remain an unknown topic. Over the last months, the Greek community is in the middle of military opperations in Mariupol and other cities of Ukraine. Most of them lost their lives, properties or forced to flee the country. President Zelenksyy in his speech to the Greek parliament referred to the strong historical ties between the two countries and the presence of Greek minority in Ukraine over the centuries.

Documentary “Life, flourishes again…Hope has the power to transcend all disasters”
The “European Cities Network on Migration” aims at strengthening migration management along with liberal principles through a transnational network of local communities. As the main aim of the project, local community stakeholders cooperate to share experiences and practices regarding the integration of migrants, and they develop inclusive, sustainable common policies based on European principles.

Aegean Sea, Migration and Human Rights’ violations
Sevan Nisanyan, a 66-year-old linguist and blogger was arrested on the island of Samos last week and faced deportation. He had been detained after Greek authorities refused to renew his residence permit. The court took the decision to release him on 7th of January with the obligation to leave Greece within two weeks.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the University of Macedonia, School of Balkan, Slavic and Oriental Studies, organize an international conference on Europe in the post-pandemic era. The Conference will be held at Thessaloniki, Greece on 19-21 November, 2021.
The title of the Conference is “From the Cold War and the Marshall Plan to the pandemic and the EU Recovery Fund: Reconstruction, Development and Freedom.”
