ABOUT THE EVENT

In our globalised world, a functioning international trade system encompasses not only global supply chains, but also a myriad of actors spread across various countries. Although globalisation has overall increased wealth and growth worldwide, we often hear about global supply chains in the context of human rights abuses or insufficient environmental standards. The issue of supply chain regulation and due diligence of companies has therefore become an important and controversial debate at the Member State, as well as at the EU level. In Germany, a current legislative proposal is at the heart of a heated debate, around the linkage between due diligence and civil liability, the number of branches and enterprises which would be impacted by a relevant law and the degree to which it would affect the supply chain overall. Meanwhile, France already passed its “loi de vigilance” in 2017. This supply chain regulation imposes due diligence on large companies, including subsidiaries and suppliers.

Join us for a vivid discussion on national and European views, expectations and efforts concerning a European due diligence regulation, with our distinguished speakers.
