A New Platform for Dialogue

Coffee Talk is a monthly discussion initiative by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) in Jordan, providing an open space for meaningful conversations on social, political, and economic issues. Building on the success of Pizza Talk, this platform fosters community engagement and leadership development, bringing together diverse voices from across society.

Youth Leadership and Expert Insights

At the heart of Coffee Talk is the empowerment of politically interested individuals from Jordanian society. To enrich these conversations, a subject-matter expert provides foundational knowledge, equipping participants with data-driven insights and informed perspectives. This approach fosters critical thinking and cultivates a new generation of liberal leaders.

Knowledge is Key in a Fast-Changing World

Beyond fostering dialogue, Coffee Talk contributes to knowledge production and policy analysis. Each session generates high-quality reports capturing key takeaways and offering actionable insights. By investing in the development of youth facilitators and creating a sustainable space for discourse, Coffee Talk reinforces FNF’s mission to promote liberal values and informed civic engagement in Jordan.

First Session: The Evolving Role of Foreign Aid in Jordan

The first Coffee Talk session took place on Friday, February 14, 2025, marking the beginning of an ongoing tradition of open discussions within the Jordanian community. The debut session focused on "The Shifting Tides of Foreign Aid: Impact on Jordan’s Future," a timely and critical topic.
Participants explored the historical role of foreign aid, recent shifts in funding policies, and their potential impact on essential sectors such as education, healthcare, and economic development. The discussion also examined how these changes might influence Jordan’s diplomatic relationships and what strategies could help the country adapt to new financial realities.

With its commitment to fostering informed and inclusive discussions, Coffee Talk is set to become a vital platform for Jordanian society, empowering them to shape the country’s future through meaningful and impactful conversations.
