Titled "Achievement of the EU - PAVE 'Policies Against Violence' Project at a Remarkable Closing Conference
Held at the Hilton Hotel Amman on Thursday, February 15, 2024, a closing conference was convened to shed light on the achievement and success of the 'Preparation for Policies Against Violence' project implemented by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, generously funded by the European Union over a period of three years.
The conference centered around discussing the outcomes and implications of this project, which resulted in the development of an effective action plan to address gender-based violence in the workplace environment. Under the gracious patronage of the Deputy Ambassador of the European Union, Mr. Peer Christoph Schatzschneider, and attended by a large gathering of prominent figures and representatives from both the public and private sectors, the key interventions in the action plan were reviewed, including:
- Preventive measures to combat gender-based violence in the workplace.
- Efforts towards comprehensive legislation aimed at establishing a violence-free work environment.
- Development of safe and confidential channels for reporting violence cases.
- Establishment of effective systems to provide support services related to violence.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Raya Al-Momani, the project coordinator, emphasized the importance of supporting women and developing women's sectors in society, especially in rural and remote areas. Mr. Jörg Denhart, the General Director of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, highlighted the importance of initiatives aimed at preventing violence and promoting women's rights.
The project comes as a joint effort to combat gender-based violence in Jordan and enhance the role of women's institutions in this field, aiming to improve the legal and structural conditions for women in the labor market. This project is a significant step towards building a safer and more collaborative society, enhancing awareness of the importance of effective policies in combating violence and promoting women's rights.
