An All-Inclusive Learning Experience: Liberal Change through Article Writing
Picture this, from ideas to impact: your words shaping the future and your ideas driving liberal change, all advanced by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and expert guidance.
On June 25th, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Regional Office launched a 3-day “Article Writing Workshop” in Amman. This event, designed for communicators, marked the beginning of journey towards championing article writing.
Facilitated by Ronald Meinardus, it featured interactive sessions aimed at empowering participants through impactful writing. The Lebanon Project was represented by its Project Managers, May El Masri and Kevin Awkar. Participants engaged in several practical writing exercises and presentations while going over AI tools like DeepL, Grammarly, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Rytr.me, improving their writing precision and creativity in drafting concept notes.
Strategic Discoveries and Collaborative Skills
The workshop provided a collaborative environment for participants to optimize their writing strategically. Using effective communication techniques, they aimed to master skills with a lasting impact on their projects. Jörg Dehnert, Regional Director for FNF MENA, emphasized participants' pivotal role in communication, “You are the FACE of the foundation, your words reflecting its values and positions” This highlights the significance of individual contributions in representing the foundation's vision and mission.
Communication for a Lasting Impact
Participants from Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt engaged in practical sessions integrating strategic communication perspectives. Meinardus added, "You can always weave it into your own narrative—if you recruit the right minds for the task” underscoring a smart, selective liberal approach.
Accordingly, the workshop significantly enhanced participants' skills in crafting strong articles, with a focus on policy and research papers to effect real change in their respective project countries. The combination of theoretical insights, hands-on exercises, and cutting-edge AI tools provided an all-inclusive learning experience, empowering participants as effective communicators and storytellers in the MENA region. As Dehnert emphasized, "It's important to remember that we, as a foundation, are not neutral; we are liberal."
Equipped with these skills, young leaders are ready to craft narratives that inspire and influence!
