On Sunday, 17 February 2019, 30 people attended a workshop by ARK (Akademi Keadilan) at Swiss Garden Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. It was a one-day workshop to learn about the Sim Democracy Game (SDG).

The participants represented different groups within the People's Justice Party (Parti Keadilan Rakyat, PKR). We had national and state leaders from the women's wing (Wanita Keadilan), as well as the youth's wing (Angkatan Muda Keadilan). We also had participants who travelled from Kelantan, Pahang, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Kedah to join us.

The objective of the workshop was to introduce SDG; its history, its objectives and the key lessons it can provide. We also explained in detail two training modules offered by ARK which use the game as a main resource:
1. Coaching and Communication Skills
2. Democracy and Good Governance

The participants were then given the opportunity to play the game and experience running a country, and its budget, within a truly democratic environment. Whilst the game was challenging, the participants enjoyed themselves and believed that they had learnt alot about democracy, good governance, and participatory budgeting.

The workshop ended at 7.00pm.
