Coming this Friday, 28 September 2018, Friedrich Naumann Foundation Philippines (FNF), together with DAKILA and Active Vista, will hold Freedom Mov_E Cebu, a free film screening at 4:30p.m. in Cinema 2 of Robinsons Galleria Cebu, Cebu City.

Freedom Mov_E began as a film-making competition and film festival that launched in 2017. It features super-short films (max of 4 minutes) of any genre, which translate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights into timely narratives. The concepts of human rights have become even more abstract; the stories captured on film will allow us to transform these intangible notions into something real, raising awareness and understanding everyone's rights as well as duties, transcending apathy and moving towards engagement.

This year, FNF Philippines through Freedom Mov_E aims to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights. This would mark the first time Freedom Mov_E is held outside of Metro Manila since its launch last year.

Freedom Mov_E Cebu features the top three (3) winning entries for Freedom Mov_E 2017. It also features Respeto, a Filipino film directed by Alberto “Treb” Monteras II and featured in the 2017 Cinemalaya Film Festival. It was awarded Best Feature Length Film, Best Supporting Actor, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound from Cinemalaya 2017, as well as the 2017 Freedom Flame award from FNF Philippines.

A panel discussion with representatives from NGOs, the academe, and the film would follow after the screening of Respeto to help the audience process what they have watched and to better nuance the film’s message to current events.

FNF provides innovative solutions that translate complex concepts of freedom into language that is relatable to Filipinos. By utilizing digitally innovative tools in its programs and activities, it aims to trigger discussions and initiate actions, thus promoting citizen engagement and empowerment in all sectors of society.
