North Korean urban planners want to learn from Germany

Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) invites a group of urban development and water management experts from North Korea to Germany in November. In order to prepare the journey, the foundation’s resident representative in Korea, Dr. Lars-André Richter, and Senior Program Officer DPRK, Rainer Rippe, met the North Korean delegation in Pyongyang in late October. The FNF team learned details about the needs of the North Korean specialists, and gave a presentation on Germany’s development over the last decades, in particular since reunification.

During their stay, FNF talked to officials from the North Korean Ministry of Health and Education Committee, and exchanged views with the Workers’ Party as well as with the German Ambassador Thomas Schäfer.

At Kim Il-Sung University, Dr. Richter and Mr. Rippe were greeted by the new German lecturer Dietmar Mehrens and shown the electronic library.
