FEMALE FORWARD 2024
Event Feedback: Participation of Women in Strengthening the Democratic Process
Attending the study tour organised by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in India on the occasion of International Girls' Day was a truly unique and inspiring experience. From the moment I arrived, I knew this journey would be an unforgettable opportunity to learn, exchange ideas, and connect with incredible women from across different fields.
The chance to meet and interact with women who are making an impact in politics and entrepreneurship was very enriching for me. These women shared their stories of perseverance and success, which gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges they face in a country as diverse and complex as India. Hearing about their journeys — how they navigated systemic challenges, broke barriers, and rose to leadership positions — was not only motivating but also broadened my perspective on the role of women in shaping societal change.
Equally impactful was the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with young Indian women around my age. We talked about our dreams, challenges, and the cultural differences that influence our lives. It was eye-opening to see how, despite growing up in different parts of the world, we share many of the same ambitions and struggles. We bonded over our desire for equality and the freedom to pursue our passions. This exchange made me reflect on the privileges I sometimes take for granted and highlighted the importance of solidarity among women globally.
Overall, this study tour has deepened my understanding of women's issues from a global perspective, while also inspiring me to continue advocating for gender equality in my own community. The connections I made, the stories I heard, and the shared experiences will stay with me for years to come.
