Podcast Series Explores How Technology Increases Freedom

Technology is already a staple in everyday life. More than the benefit of unburdening people from the tedious way of doing things, technology’s real value lies in how it enhances personal freedom and create opportunities.

Season 2 of Drivers of Innovation podcast series unravels stories of individuals whose lives have been changed by technology and in turn, how they are now transforming entire communities by leveraging technologies.

Recorded in Hong Kong, the podcast series showcases the diversity of Hong Kong’s startup ecosystem, with local and international guests sharing what drives them to be disruptors. “Startups drive a positive impact to the society, be it about instigating innovation or providing opportunities for people to be part of the workforce,” said Karena Belin, co-founder of WHub, an online profile-driven platform for startups. 

Harvard University Affiliate Professor Alexander Goerlach hosts Season 2. Goerlach, who himself is an entrepreneur, having founded the magazine The European, delves into political framework that allows businesses to grow. “Rule of law does not only concern human rights, but also a corruption-free environment for businesses,” stressed Goerlach.

FNF Global Innovation Hub launched Drivers of Innovation in July 2017. It has interviewed financial and regulatory technology experts from Hong Kong, Germany, and South Africa.

“What Drivers of Innovation offers are insights that reaffirm how technology is a tool and not an end goal. We said that we employ technology to solve people’s real problems, and that ultimately gives them more freedom,” said Armin Reinartz, Director of FNF Global Innovation Hub.
