Innovation and Technology, Catalysts for a Sustainable Economy
In partnership with the Tunisian Association of Women Engineers (ATFI), an insightful conference took place on 13 July 2024, spotlighting critical issues in sustainable economy and technological innovation. The event aimed to convene experts, innovators, and thought leaders to discuss and explore these pivotal themes through a series of panels and workshops.
The first panel, titled "Key Concepts of the Sustainable Economy," delved into foundational elements essential for sustainable development. The discussion, moderated by Ms. Sallouha Bouzgarou Touzi, an expert in green economy and eco-entrepreneurship, featured key topics such as the sustainable economy, social innovation and sustainability, blue economy and its economic opportunities, and the growth and benefits of green jobs. Notable panelists include Ms. Viera Schioppetto from the Centre d'Information et d'Education au Développement (CIES) in Tunisia, Mr. Iheb Ben Salem, a consultant in entrepreneurship and sustainable development, Ms. Amel Zhiwa, an engineer and trainer at AVFA Institut pédagogique Sidi Thabet, and Ms. Imen Ben Jemia, CEO of Road Map and an expert in eco-entrepreneurship.
The second panel, "Technological Innovation for a Sustainable Economy," highlighted the intersection of technology and sustainability. Moderated by Ms. Rym Moussaoui, an expert in rural entrepreneurship development, this panel covered sustainable education for global citizenship, the synergy between technological innovation and sustainable finance, and the impact of climate change on sustainable buildings. Esteemed speakers for this panel included Ms. Leila Abassi, CSR Manager at TIME Sustainability, Ms. Mariem Ben Boubaker, Vice-President of the International CFO Alliance, and Ms. Raoudha Jebari Larbi, Technical Director at Albuhaira Invest.
The conference featured testimonials from women entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and challenges in the sustainable economy sector. Among the speakers were Ms. Mariem Aidi, CEO of KOMYA, who discussed the rise of slow cosmetics, and Ms. Soumaya Hammemi, CEO of Emballini, who focused on ecological packaging.
In addition to these enriching discussions, the conference will offered two hands-on workshops designed to provide participants with practical insights and tools. The first workshop, "The Fresco of Responsible Organisations" was led by Ms. Leila Abbassi, CSR Manager at TIME Sustainability. The second workshop, "CAP 2030" was conducted by Ms. Salouha Bouzgarrou Touzi, offering in-depth knowledge on green economy and eco-entrepreneurship.
This conference represented a significant opportunity for participants to engage with leading experts and practitioners, gain valuable knowledge, and acquire practical skills to implement sustainable practices in their organizations and communities.
