Liberal Serbian Foundation Included in European Think Tank Network
One cannot claim that liberalism is exactly flourishing in Serbia. Nevertheless, successes for liberal politics in Serbian society and beyond can be seen: for example, three representatives of the party “Movement of Free Citizens (PSG)” were elected to the Serbian parliament in the last parliamentary election. Also, due to its clear liberal and pro-European values, the party was accepted as a full member to the European liberal ALDE party in December 2022.
At the beginning of May, another component was added: the Serbian “Foundation for Liberal Public Policy” (FLPP) was accepted as an affiliated member of the “European Liberal Forum” (ELF) at its General Assembly in Paris. ELF is the umbrella organisation of liberal foundations and think tanks and the political foundation of the ALDE party.
“Liberalism in Serbia is the only political school of thought that pursues and consistently demands a European course for the country without any ifs and buts,” said FLPP Chairman-elect Danijel Pantić after the unanimous admission. “We are pleased to be included in a network of like-minded organisations that in the future will enable us to work in an even more coordinated way with other European partners.”
The Western Balkans Office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom congratulates FLPP and looks forward to many joint pro-European projects for the benefit of the Serbian people.
