Women Voice their Entrepreneurial Success at Chittagong

To recognize the role of Bangladeshi women in the business community, FNF Bangladesh jointly hosted a seminar with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at Chittagong city. More than 200 women entrepreneurs, from grass root level to corporate giants, celebrated the success stories of a select group of women-operated businesses.

FBCCI president Mr. Kazi Akramuddin Ahmed referred women as a key engine of economic and social growth of Bangladesh. He emphasized the need for women’s participation in enhancing the country’s human resources. They shared their views and experience on entering, operating and expanding their enterprises in a dynamic business climate that exists in Bangladesh.

Founder of Women Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Mrs. Monowara Hakim Ali stressed the need for training and leadership programmes to enhance women leadership in the business sector. She dwelled on the problems faced by female entrepreneurs in Bangladesh and possible solutions to these challenges.

The success stories presented at the seminar clearly demonstrated the large potential of women entrepreneur’s in various business sectors. A more favorable tax regime may encourage female entrepreneurs from rural areas as well. Establishment of industrial parks exclusively for women enterprise was advocated by many at the event.
