It aims to promote the goal of making the principle of freedom valid for the dignity of all people and in all areas of society, both in Germany and abroad. Established in 1958 in Germany, we now have offices in more than 50 countries all across the globe. FNF Bangladesh provides civic education on liberal principles with activities on Free Market Economy, Good Governance and Digital Transformation. We are working for freedom in Bangladesh since 2012, registered under the Bangladesh NGO Affairs Bureau.

A webinar on Climate Change under the banner of “Climate Change in South Asia: The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF South Asia) recently organized a valuable webinar on climate change titled "Climate Change in South Asia: The Impact on Livelihoods and Mitigation Strategies." Distinguished panelists, including Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti (Executive Chairperson of Policy Research Institute from Nepal), Syeda Rizwana Hasan ((attorney and environmentalist from Bangladesh)), and Afia Islam (Member of National Climate Change Council from Pakistan), provided valuable insights on the issue through speeches and discussions. Shruti Sinha, the Policy and Outreach manager at Chintan from India has moderated the session.

In Bangladesh, “Infodemic” is more Dangerous and Worrying than the Coronavirus Pandemic
The first three known cases of COVID-19 were reported in Bangladesh on 8 March 2020 by IEDCR. Referring to the spread of fake news around the coronavirus, the Director General of WHO used the term “Infodemic”. Thanks to the massive usage of Internet, smart phones and social media such as Facebook and WhatsApp, misinformation and fake news related to the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 is more viral than the virus itself.

As months pass by since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, slowly but surely, the world is learning that this is not solely a healthcare crisis. The crisis has cast doubt on the priorities of governments vis-à-vis an unseen enemy. An enemy which has brought to the fore the dissimilarities in the actions of different polities all over the world in facing the challenge. While some countries adopted prompt preventive and mitigative measures to flatten the endemic curve, others failed to act timely.
