Israel Hofsheet - Be Free Israel - ישראל חופשית staff gathered on Tuesday, July 30th, for the second symposium of the project 'Alternative Model for State and Religion Relations in Israel', this time under the topic of 'Israeli Judaism and Models of Religion and State'.Researchers, experts and historians gave 3 fascinating lectures.
The first on the history and foundations of Israeli Judaism, including changes in Jewish identity since the establishment of the State of Israel, and the struggles of the mainstream secular Jewish public to establish their own unique Jewish identity.
The second about various models of religion and state, including case studies from Germany, the United States, France, and Iran.
The third about the history and the foundations of the revisionist movement of the right. In recent years, the right side of the political map has veered from topics of religion and state, though is the one in power.
This symposium is part of three-part series of intensive staff study days that will culminate in organizational platform and policy papers on key issues of #religion and state.
